Recently I found myself unemployed….and for no good reason that I could really think of. Well maybe the fact that I just couldn't stand to work an average job anymore. Often after this I was constantly wondering what to do…then it hit me or wait my wife did… housework!? I was now officially a kept man.
Waking up before 11:00am is a hard thing to accomplish. If you know me you'd agree. Shortly after getting up I headed down to check the mail, and I thought work was hard! After coming back in that's when I found the list. By list I mean list of things to do. Go fig right? Turns out this was the vacation I thought it was going to be. First up I returned the library books and not mine of course. Lately I could hardly be bothered to read the tv times let alone the book I was given for xmas by wifey that was still on the night stand gathering dust. Next it was off to the bank and by no means to get money but simply for a deposit. I guess kept men are KEPT broke, lol. Later during the week it was to the grocery store for ingredients for the nights dinner, I guess I lucked out by at least only having to gather the ingredients and not have to cook. Well this time anyways. I'll spare you of the constant hours of time I spent doing housework. I swore to myself then and there once I got rich I was getting us a maid.
Lets just say by now I was getting the point. How's it go? No rest for the wicked? After a daunting few days of molly maid and errand boy I knew what i had to do. Get a job! As much as every person needs a vacation I more needed employment even more. No more kept man for this guy. I hit the classifieds and hard! Soon enough the interviews came rolling in. Interview after interview I just wasn't satisfied, I didn't want a job again I wanted my career back! I couldn't let my hard earned time and money of getting a degree go to waste. The lil nerd inside was calling me and just a few days later the best call came with an offer for a job in my field. Woo hoo! Gone are the days of checking people in and out and taking orders from 5 managers I was back to the world of information technology and not a day too soon.
So tomorrow morning I say goodbye to being a kept man and off to work I go. I fear any longer and I would be getting lists on how exactly to clean the house and how to fold the laundry. Just kidding wifey.
Oh man am I gonna need coffee to get me through a day at the office for the first time in over five years.
Wish me luck :)
If ever there was a motivator for getting a job it was housework. Glad I just have one manager. Even two would be too many, let alone five. Good luck at the office. Who knows, maybe it will be the start of a whole new reality TV series. Congratulations on the new job Willem. Can't wait to hear how it goes. Best of luck. Dave :)
